Week 7

Economic Forces Influencing Education & The School

In this topic, I finally understand how the economic forces can affect the education. I agree that the commodification of knowledge will cause inequality in the accessibility of knowledge. It is because commodification of knowledge related to the idea of converting knowledge into something that can be exchanged for monetary or utility benefits. In this case, knowledge is not for all but only for those with money. Other than that, I found that the approach of quality and standard of Malaysia plays a key role to ensure the relevance and quality in the education system. By doing that, a lot of money had been spent in order to achieve the objectives of SKPM. It includes, the attention towards the Malaysian education from the pre-school until the tertiary level. Lastly, I believe that knowledge was been used in order to help increasing the growth of a country as well as the education sector. Overall, knowledge based factor input can help to overcome the obstruction of resource-based production in the country where one of the main characteristic of this type of economy is increases the reliance on knowledge-based activities such as formal educational trainings and on-the job trainings.
